Global Interactions First Annual Event 2015
Global Interactions is pleased to announce our first annual event, co-organized with the new Research Center for Material Culture (RCMC) and the KITLV. This two part event takes up the topic of Global Slavery. The June 11-12th workshop – ‘Global Slavery and the Exhibitionary Impulse‘ – will foster discussions around the histories, definitions and representations of slavery. In November, we will follow up with a more focused discussion on the issue of reparations and redress in a roundtable discussion, ‘On the Poetics and Politics and Poetics of Redress‘. Together, these activities aim to bring critical and engaged public attention to important issues concerning slavery pasts and their legacies in the present.
